About

Renata Carmen is many things: A lifelong writer and journalist. A chronic illness and pain survivor. A science-oriented person who loves going down research rabbit-holes. A nature lover and amateur photographer. A fan of all things nerddom and pro-wrestling. A gearhead and retired mechanic. A former late 90’s/early 00’s Los Angeles raver, who still tears up the dance floor when the music is right and her body allows it. A passionate person who deeply cares about society, politics, and the overall wellness of this planet.

Renata’s love of the written word started in Elementary school with creative writing, poetry, and award-winning Toastmasters speeches. She launched her journalism career in 2001 covering live events for Raver’s Digest, an underground magazine based in Los Angeles.

Since that time, Renata has submitted custom articles and photography to a myriad of publications spanning automotive, home improvement, health and wellness, pop-culture, entertainment, and hyperlocal marketing. She’s also performed spoken word at legendary venues like “Da Poetry Lounge” in Los Angeles.

Being a mechanically inclined writer has given her the ability to provide instructional articles to magazines like Auto Restorer and The Speed Girls, act as a technical consultant on-set for The History Channel, and add a unique spin to entertaining features like listicles about TV, movies, and comic books for websites like CBR, Ranker, and Looper.

Currently, Renata is working on her own independent projects, including this site, and her first ever full-length novel. When she isn’t writing, Renata enjoys traveling, cooking and dining, reading, attending live music and pro-wrestling events, playing board and video games, crafting, and relaxing at home with her husband and Siberian forest cat.
